Chlann

How to get into Chlann

Chlann is in closed testing, so there is no open sign-up form yet. You join a waitlist and we send you an invite code when there is room.

Why sign-up is closed

Chlann is a family messenger built by one person. Families are onboarded a few at a time so that problems are found while they are still small, and so that the people already using it get answered when they write in. It is not a scarcity tactic and there is no queue to pay your way past.

Testers are not charged during closed testing.

What happens when you ask for an invite

  1. 01You join the waitlist with your email address and your name. There is no confirmation email to click.
  2. 02When a slot opens, we email an invite code to that address.
  3. 03You use the code to set up your family space, then invite the rest of them with a link. Nobody else needs a code.
or write to hi@chlann.com

We use your email address to send your invite and for nothing else. The privacy page says what we store and how to have it deleted.

If you already have a code

An invite link from us opens the app and fills the code in for you, so there is nothing to type. If you have a code but not a link, go to the sign-in page.

What you are joining

Chlann is a family messaging app in Irish and English: messages, photos, video calls and a shared calendar for one family, with a Comfort Mode for relatives who find phones hard work. Messages are encrypted in transit and where they are stored, but Chlann is not end-to-end encrypted and we can read message content in the two situations set out on the privacy page. There are no ads and no third-party trackers.

The questions families ask and what it costs after testing are both on the home page.
